Ford updates BlueCruise driver assistance system and adds more features |
Ford's BlueCruise Adaptive Intelligent Control System provides many driver assistance functions such as lane centering, traffic sign recognition and hands-free driving for more than 130,000 highway miles.
Ford announced yesterday that Software Update 1.2 will be released later this fall, starting in Mach-E 2023, and will include new features like hands-free lane change, lane repositioning, and speed prediction. ActiveGlide 1.2, Lincoln's redesigned version of BlueCruise, also offers Lincoln owners the same add-on.
A hands-free lane change is exactly what it sounds like. Just hit the turn signal and the car will overtake you when it is safe to do so. It also suggests proactive changes when it sees you are in a slower vehicle.
Predictive Cruise Assist is designed to identify sharp turns and steer the vehicle safely, while the transmission allows the vehicle to enter any lane by providing additional cushioning between the bumper and the lower half of the road.
The new features will debut on the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select and Lincoln Navigator Standard 2023. Owners will also need to install the Ford Co-Pilot360 system and sign up for a three-year, $600 plan to keep maps up to date so you can keep driving free.
They should also have the accompanying FordPass or Lincoln Way app installed on their phone. Mach-E and 2023 Navigator owners get the first three months of service free as an introductory offer.
