According to Sony PS VR games are not compatible with PS VR2 |
With the launch of the PS VR2 early next year, Sony has already begun accelerating the massive train of next-generation virtual reality glasses. The hardware was revealed at this week's Tokyo Game Show, where the company revealed more games on the platform.
Now more important information has emerged, unfortunately PS VR games do not work on PS VR2.
“PS VR games will no longer be compatible with PS VR2, as PS VR2 is designed to deliver next-generation virtual reality experiences,” said Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Experiences at PlayStation, in the latest episode of the official PlayStation Podcast. He added, "PS VR2 with more advanced features such as new controllers with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, inside-out tracking, eye tracking, 3D audio and 4K HDR support. This means that PS VR2 games require a completely different style than PS VR.
It's been confirmed that some PS VR games work with PS VR2 as well (like No Man's Sky), but that's disappointing news. This means that players will not be able to access PS VR games through the new glasses. So if they want to go back to the old games from time to time, they should keep their old hardware.
