Solana launched a web-based smartphone 3

Public blockchain company Solana has announced a phone called Saga in partnership with Osom. Previously known as Osom OV1, the phone was designed by a team of former core engineers and designers and is now rebranded as Crypto.

The Saga is being promoted as a flagship Android smartphone that offers a unique set of features integrated with the Solana blockchain. As you would expect from this integration, the phone facilitates and secures transactions while being able to manage digital assets.

The price of the phone is 1000 dollars. Pre-orders are now possible. A $100 deposit is required. Solana said the saga will be released in the first quarter of 2023.

The phone features a 6.67-inch OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, 512GB storage, and 12GB RAM.

It is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip and features a 50MP main camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera.

Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO of Solana, said that no matter what hardware specifications are of interest to most geeks, Saga's goal is to improve the relationship between encryption and mobile devices.

This device is intended for people in cryptocurrency wallet, Web3 and NFT. It has a unique ability to support decentralized applications based on the Solana blockchain.

Market makers NFT Magic Eden, Solana Phantom Wallet and cryptocurrency platform Orca have pledged to support the new software effort for the Saga Phone.

Osom confirmed that the OV1 and Saga are now identical, which means that the device is the company's main focus. Founder and CEO Jason Keats said, “Osom is excited to partner with Solana to create the Saga. The world needs new hardware companies to support the future of Web3.

The blockchain company has also launched an Android framework that developers can use to create mobile experiences called Solana Mobile Stack for wallets and apps.

Solana Mobile Stack is an open and decentralized app store operated by Saga. The company envisions a massive proliferation of native crypto applications, digital services, and digital goods that can be enabled by Solana Mobile Stack.

Solana Mobile Stack is also available for other Android device manufacturers. The blockchain company claims that developers will get early access to the Saga.

The announcement comes at a difficult time for the cryptocurrency industry, which has seen a sharp drop in prices.

Yakovenko realized that there was nothing more attractive in the device. But he believes that it can reach more specialized crypto users.

“We are targeting people who understand what it means to protect the keys that prove ownership of funds in crypto wallets,” he said.
