Apple is preparing to launch many new devices |
According to Mark Gorman of Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to release a batch of new devices between fall 2022 and the first half of 2023.
That includes four iPhone 14s, several new iPads, three smartwatches, several Macs with the M2/M3 chipset, an updated AirPods Pro, a new HomePod, and an Apple TV with updated specifications.
At its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, Apple announced two new Macs with flagship M2 processors. But Gorman expects the chip to be used in many other devices.
This includes the Mac mini with the M2 chipset, the Mac mini with the M2 Pro chipset, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 Max and M2 Pro chipsets, and the Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chipsets. .
There is also a mixed reality headset developed by Apple that is also said to have an M2 chip.
According to Gorman, Apple's M3 processor is in development and will likely appear in 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air laptops next year.
As we all know, Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 14 series this fall and Gorman's report summarizes all the rumors that have been circulating over the past year.
The Pro and Pro Max models get a new, more powerful A16 chip and support for Always On Display.
iPhone 14 Pro models should also have a 48MP camera sensor. There is also a redesigned notch with a face ID slot and a selfie camera.
Gorman said the standard iPhone 14 will come with the A15 chip that came with the iPhone 13. Gorman said the two mini models have been replaced by a 6.7-inch one.
Apple will launch several new devices starting in the fall
On the iPad side, Apple may release 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with M2 processors later this year. Also, larger 14-inch to 15-inch iPads will be available in a year or two.
Gorman also confirmed earlier rumors that the new iPads will feature an A14 chip, 5G connectivity, and a USB-C port.
Apple should also release three new models of its connected watches this fall, the Watch Series 8 and Watch Series 8 SE, as well as a tougher model aimed at extreme athletes.
The S8 chip in the upcoming Watch Series 8 offers the same level of performance as the previous S7 and S6 chipsets. But next year's watch will have an improved processor.
The company may end production of the Watch Series 3 this fall in favor of the Watch Series 8 SE.
Apple didn't have much to say about tvOS at WWDC. But the company may launch a new Apple TV platform this fall with an A14 chip and more RAM.
Gorman noted that this makes the device suitable for additional gaming features that we'll see in tvOS 16.
The company is also preparing to launch an improved HomePod. But that won't happen until next year.
According to Gorman, the next HomePod will be similar in size and performance to the original device released in 2018. It is expected to have an S8 chip, an updated screen, and possibly multi-touch support.
AirPods Pro also get an upgrade as Gorman expects a new chip and improved audio.
