Windows 11 update comes with an Android app |
Microsoft has released the first major update for Windows 11, which includes many new features.
A public preview of the Android app is available for the entire US operating system, as well as the redesigned Notepad and Media Player apps.
The first major OS update also includes some improvements to the taskbar.
The public preview of the Android app, available through Windows 11, allows users to install apps from the Amazon Appstore.
Although the Amazon store has a limited number of Android apps compared to the broader Google Play Store. But there are solutions to unofficially run Google Play Store on the operating system.
The biggest change in the update is related to the taskbar. The time and date are available on multiple screens in Windows 11, which is missing on startup.
In this update, the weather widget is also back in the taskbar. The mute and unmute feature is available in the taskbar for Microsoft Teams calls.
You can also quickly see how to share a specific app or window with Microsoft Teams right from the taskbar.

Microsoft has also redesigned the operating system's media player and notepad apps. Notepad now includes multi-level undo, an improved search interface, and dark mode support.
Aiming to replace Groove Music and Windows Media Player, the new media player app features audio and video support and a design that's more in line with system user interface improvements.
Microsoft recently moved to the annual feature update mode for Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, the first major update for Windows 11 will not be the only one this year. Instead, the company frequently adds new features to the operating system.
“Over time, you will see that in addition to our annual updates, we will be releasing new operating system features frequently to users,” said Panos Panay, President of Windows and Hardware.
"We are taking advantage of our multiple update mechanisms, including service updates and the Microsoft Store," he added. Our goal is to provide continuous innovation to give you the best experience all year round.
The software giant plans to test new beta Windows 11 features with users in 2022. Secret features like wallpaper stickers and tablet mode updates are currently being tested.
