Google wants Pixel phones to stream apps to your PC

Over the years, Google has come up with a few ways to make Android phones (especially Pixel phones) and desktop and laptop computers (especially Chromebooks) work better together.

The final example is the call center, which provides easy access to your phone's notifications, quick settings, and more from the bottom corner of the CrocBook screen.

Another example is Webmail, which allows you to connect a Windows, Mac, or Chrome OS device to your phone to be notified of and reply to incoming messages on the web app.

This is more integrated with Chrome OS. It appears in the Settings app and enables notifications when the app is closed.

Google's January plan revealed its plans to improve the way apps and notifications move from your Pixel phone to your Chromebook or PC.

In 2022, the company is trying to balance the Android and Chrome OS experience with Apple's system integration, including the ability to mirror messaging apps from Android phones to Chromebooks.

And thanks to the Android 13 Developer Preview, you can get an initial look at what this feature will look like.

The company appears to be primarily focused on being able to stream apps to computers. The feature also works on computers without Chrome OS.

Instead of mirroring your phone's screen, Pixel phones create a completely separate virtual screen that you send to your computer.

The Messages app will appear on the second screen. This means that you can open apps from your computer without disabling the apps running on your phone's home screen.

And it not only works with messaging apps, but it seems that you can open any app on your phone.

There is a menu button in the lower right corner which when clicked will bring up the full list of apps installed on the phone.

This menu allows you to run any app on your phone, not just the messaging app. Your entire phone can also be cast from your Pixel device.

As with any feature in development, it is always possible to modify existing content before it is released. Looking at the recent release of the first Android 13 developer preview, these features may be very different when available.
