Apple supports accepting contactless payments on iPhone |
Apple has announced plans to launch Click to Pay for iPhone, which will allow businesses to use mobile devices as payment terminals for contactless payments.
A 2020 Bloomberg report indicated that Apple's acquisition of start-up Mobeewave was focused on building technology. In January, rumors emerged from the same source that she was about to be released.
The iPhone maker confirmed this feature, which takes payments from contactless credit and debit cards and other digital wallets.
However, the Click to Pay feature is not yet operational. But the support API came with the second beta of iOS 15.4.
This feature can be enabled on iPhone XS and later. Old iPhone with NFC technology. But there are no iPhone 6, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8 models on the compatibility list, at least for now.
Similar to Apple Pay, Apple says it doesn't know what is being bought or who is buying it.
The company has confirmed that it supports all contactless EMV payments, including Google Pay. The familiar box reader may disappear when new options appear.
According to the company, all merchants must use their phone as a payment acceptance system in order to work with a compatible payment processor. Stripes number one.
Apple announces Tap-to-Pay
Stripe plans to support the feature in the Shopify point of sale app this spring, followed by other platforms and apps later this year.
The feature will also be enabled in US Apple Stores later this year.
“Click to Pay on iPhone provides businesses with a secure, private, and easy way to accept contactless payments,” said Jennifer Bailey, vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet products.
This new feature allows millions of merchants in the US to use iPhone to easily and securely accept payments with just one tap on the iPhone, without the need for additional hardware or additional payment terminals.
