Zoom may pay you $25 as part of a court settlement

Zoom has settled a class action lawsuit over privacy and security issues. If you used the video conferencing app before July, you may be eligible for income.

The company agreed to pay $85 million but continued to deny the allegations and any liability.

Two groups are entitled to file a complaint. If you paid for a Zoom Meetings subscription between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021, you can claim $25, or 15% of the fees you paid for the subscription during that time. (Does not include optional add-ons or support that customers can add to a subscription).

If you paid $75 for a Zoom Meetings subscription during the relevant time period. 15% of $75 is $11.25. Since $11.25 is less than $25, your order will be treated as a $25 order.

For regular users who do not have a paid subscription, the compensation is $15. Meaning, if you don't qualify for the first set but signed up, used, opened or downloaded Zoom Meeting between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021, you can apply for $15.

However, if you only use Zoom with a corporate or government account, you will be disqualified from billing.

Claims must be submitted by March 5, 2022. You can file a claim online here or by mailing a completed claim form.

However, depending on the comparison website, the payment amount may increase or decrease depending on the number of people submitting the claim.

The settlement was initially approved by the court and a final approval hearing is scheduled for 7 April 2022.

Zoom has a lot of skilled people

The attorney general in the lawsuit accused Zoom of unauthorized disclosure of user information to third parties through its SDK and marketplace applications.

It also does not prevent unnecessary interruptions to meetings by third parties (also known as zoom bombing).

Additionally, she was accused of falsely saying that her app contained end-to-end encryption when in reality it didn't (the company fixed this issue).

A company spokesperson said in a statement that the privacy and security of our users is a top priority for Zoom. We attach great importance to the trust of our users. We are proud of the progress we've made on the podium. We look forward to continuing to innovate while prioritizing privacy and security.
