TikTok Tests Game Streaming App TikTok Live Studio |
TikTok is testing a new desktop media streaming app called TikTok Live Studio, which will allow users to stream clips directly from games and other apps.
According to TikTok, the software is currently being tested with a small number of users in some Western markets. But it appears that the official page on the company's website has been removed.
When released, TikTok Live Studio could be an interesting change in the platform's live streaming strategy.
Once downloaded through a Windows device, the software allows users to log into their TikTok account and stream directly to TikTok Live.
In the program, you can use the chat function to communicate with the audience and play content from your computer, mobile phone or gaming platform.
An obvious advantage of the platform in testing this feature is that content creators may be interested in staying on the app rather than forcing viewers to watch their shows on Twitch or YouTube.
TikTok Live Studio is not focused on users who stream directly from mobile devices, but it can be expanded to include game streaming, making it a competitor to companies like Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming.
According to Zac Posey, who shared screenshots of the TikTok Live Studio app on Twitter, the app is currently in a buggy state.
It is said to support streaming in both landscape and portrait modes. It can also take screenshots of games, individual programs, mobile devices, and cameras.
Tik Tok lets him compete with Twitch
Previously, it was possible to use third-party software such as Streamlabs to stream desktops to TikTok. However, the help page for this feature states that access is restricted and can only be obtained by invitation.
There are also tutorials that use third-party services like Loola.tv as an alternative solution to connect TikTok with streaming media software like OBS. But it's not perfect.
Loola.tv's help page shows that as of July of this year, TikTok streaming media is currently closed to most users.
It is not clear when the platform will expand the TikTok Live Studio test to more users. However, when it becomes widely available, desktop streaming can make many changes to the platform's content menu in real time.
