Razer has a mobile platform with Qualcomm technology |
It looks like Qualcomm is working with Razer to create a new mobile game development suite based on the upcoming Snapdragon G3X processor.
The leaked chipset from VideoCardz calls the device Snapdragon G3X Mobile Development Kit.
This shows that it is primarily aimed at software developers and manufacturers to help them build software and hardware powered by Qualcomm's mobile gaming technology.
VideoCardz also received a breakdown of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset from Qualcomm's flagship smartphone processor.
Qualcomm's new brand name for its mobile chipset was announced last month. The processor is manufactured in a 4nm process, the processor speed is increased by 20%, the energy efficiency is increased by 30%, the GPU speed is increased by 30%, and the power efficiency is increased by 25%.
Other specifications of the gaming laptops include a USB-C port for XR accessories, DisplayPort support over USB-C, a 6000mAh battery, and a 1080p webcam.
The screen should be an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support. It includes 5G millimeter wave wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. VideoCardz has found that the device can stream games from services like xCloud.
Razer is based on the Snapdragon G3X
Not surprisingly, Qualcomm launched this device designed to support the development of business platforms.
For example, the Arm Windows device called Snapdragon Developer Group, which was released earlier this year, aims to provide developers with an affordable device for developing Arm applications for Snapdragon-based computers. The company also produces VR headsets equipped with its processors.
The latest development kit was released after Valve's Steam platform release. It is a Linux laptop based on AMD processors. But Valve isn't the only company working on portable variants — other companies like Lenovo are showing off prototypes.
Qualcomm appears to be betting on other companies' interest in similar devices as well. Hence, it markets its processor as the most convenient product to work with.
There is no detailed information on when the developer group will be officially announced. But with Qualcomm's annual Snapdragon Technology Summit taking place in Hawaii, the wait won't be long.
