Qualcomm is increasing its investment in gaming with its new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform, which allows manufacturers to create portable game consoles similar to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck.

The Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform is designed to combine all Snapdragon Elite gaming technologies into one product.

Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 is an Android-based platform that lets you play Android games, stream games from your console or PC, or play games through game services in the cloud.

The basis of this platform is the new G3x chip. It has an Adreno GPU, similar to the current Qualcomm smartphone chip, with which you can play games at a refresh rate of up to 144 frames per second.

It also supports 5G, millimeter wave, and 6E WiFi below 6Hz for fast networks. If you want to connect G3x-powered devices to other monitors, the chip supports output on 4K monitors or connected to Mixed Reality headsets via USB-C.

The G3x also includes the proprietary Snapdragon audio platform, which is designed to improve sound quality when listening to music with supported wireless headphones.

And help her promote her ideas about what the G3x platform can offer. Qualcomm has partnered with Razer by outfitting the development kit.

This mobile device is powered by the G3x chip, has a 6.65 inch OLED screen and supports 120Hz refresh rate.

It also includes a built-in 1080p webcam with two microphones for broadcasting game events to the audience.

Qualcomm is trying to beat the gaming market

Interested developers register the package through the Razer website. But the company said it's not a Razer device.

The SDK will not be available to consumers and is intended to allow developers to explore future Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 features that Qualcomm is considering.

This was not an advertisement for Razer hardware, Justin Kony, director of global partnerships for Razer, said in a statement. Snapdragon G3x SDK is a Qualcomm device. Build that partnership by working with Qualcomm. Our goal is to attract more publishers and developers and realize our shared vision of shaping the future of mobile gaming.

It is not clear when we will see the actual hardware of devices from other manufacturers. "We're currently focusing on the developer community," Qualcomm's Mika Knapp said briefly. The device manufacturer specifies the arrival time of the device.

Qualcomm is successful with its AR/VR-focused XR platform. The XR2 chip powers the Quest 2 standalone headset.
