Amazon acknowledges that the Appstore does not work on Android 12 |
Shortly after Google released the Android 12 update in October, users noticed that they could not use apps in the Amazon Appstore.
A report on the issue appeared on the Amazon forum over a month ago, and there is currently no timeline for a potential fix.
Troy Edwards, an Amazon spokesperson, said, “We are aware of issues affecting the performance and operation of the app for a small number of Appstore users who have upgraded to Android 12 on mobile devices. It does not affect an Amazon Fire Tablet or Fire TV device.
One user described his experience with this issue in an article on the company's forum: Rain Radar from the App Store is still valid and sent me an instant notification. But I can't see it because it can't work in full screen mode because the app store is not working properly.
Additionally, some users mentioned that they didn't see any apps when they opened the Amazon App Store. Others have mentioned that they are being asked to update their apps when they no longer need the update.
A company employee also responded to the complaint in the forum, indicating that the technical team is still investigating the problem. But he did not offer many explanations for what was wrong.
The problem could be due to the incompatibility between Amazon's built-in DRM and Android 12. One user pointed out a workaround on the company's forum, which indicated that the built-in DRM was the cause of the problem.

Although the issue may now affect a few users. But this number continues to grow.
When you download the Appstore on your Android 12 device, a banner will appear at the top that says: We're excited about Android 12. Unfortunately, we're working hard to fix some issues. Thank you for your patience while we took over the App Store.
For the first time, Google only released Android 12 through Pixel devices. But Galaxy S21 users also received the update in mid-November.
Samsung plans to provide updates to more manufacturers of mobile phones and other devices in the future, further complicating the e-commerce giant's problems.
