WhatsApp is developing the community feature |
The Meta platform on WhatsApp is developing a new community function for its app. Information about this feature first surfaced in October, and there is mounting evidence that it may be different from the current Party app.
WhatsApp v2.21.21.6 Beta includes several new discussion threads which indicate that a feature called Communities will be available soon.
These channels are new features of the platform, indicating that new community features are under development. In appearance, the function of a community can also be somewhat similar to that of an existing group.
The community function appears to give group managers more group powers. This includes the ability to create groups within groups, which can be similar to organizing channels under the Discord community umbrella.
Administrators can invite new users through the community invite link and then send messages to other members. It is difficult to determine what these cats look like at the moment. But it appears to be end-to-end encrypted.
Minor design changes also seem to help differentiate the community from regular group chats.
The community icon is a square with rounded corners, the layout in which the platform was accidentally activated (and then quickly deactivated) in October. There is no information about the official launch of the community.
The responsible community gives more control to the group
By developing community capabilities, the platform can try to bridge the growing gap between it and other messaging apps like Telegram and Signal.
Earlier this year, WhatsApp's new privacy policy confused users about what you share with the parent company. This has led to an influx of more applications.
When WhatsApp stopped using Facebook's entire network of apps last month, Telegram gained as many as 70 million users.
WhatsApp is currently one of the largest instant messaging platforms out there. Although it is very large and popular. However, the speed of adding features to the app is very slow.
For example, many popular instant messaging apps offer seamless backup and sync of chats on Android and iOS.
But the Meta platform has only recently been able to allow iOS users to stream conversations to Android. Although this feature is limited to Samsung Galaxy devices, it still has some issues.
