Support Apple Wi-Fi 6E glasses for improved performance |
Trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is back with Apple's virtual and augmented reality glasses.
After Guo stated that the complex design of the device could cause production delays, Guo mentioned in an investor report that the product supports Wi-Fi 6E for higher bandwidth and performance.
As the analyst explained, one of the biggest problems with mixed reality headsets today is the need for a wired connection to the computer.
In order to avoid these issues and provide a better user experience, the Apple headphones are expected to support Wi-Fi 6 first and later Wi-Fi 6E.
Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax is the latest generation of wireless networking best suited for mobile devices and the Internet of Things.
The new protocol supports faster speeds and is ready for more connections.
Mixed reality glasses require more bandwidth due to HD content and lower latency, and Guo expects these devices to support Wi-Fi 6.
It should be noted that the future Apple device will not be the first to use this type of technology. Facebook's Oculus Quest supports Wi-Fi 6. It can stream at frequencies up to 120 Hz, compared to 90 Hz or less when using Wi-Fi 5.
Kuo said in his notes that Meta (formerly Facebook) and Sony are expected to launch new augmented and virtual reality devices with Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E in 2022.
Apple glasses connect wirelessly to iPhone
For the long term future. Kuo believes the company can also roll out a 5G standard faster than millimeter wave for mixed reality glasses to improve the wireless experience and reduce the need for computers or other devices.
Rumor has it that Apple's mixed reality headset is very different from its advanced sensors, 8K displays, and ultra-powerful chips.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gorman said the equipment is expensive. Other reports suggest that the price of the product may reach $3,000.
Based on a preliminary report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Production of the new Apple glasses is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2022.
