Pixel 6 loading speed is much slower than Google recommended |
When the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were launched, Google talked about the device's fast charging feature. According to the company, the Pixel 6 series device is supposed to come with a $25 fast charger, so it's not included. In the box - you will take full advantage of the mobile phone's fast charging speed, which can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes, but these claims may not be realistic.
Android Authority tested Bicycle 6 phones for fast charging speeds, and their results showed Google's data sheet to be misleading. After trying to use a 30W charger with my Pixel 6, the site discovered that the phone was not using full charging power. On the contrary, only a maximum charging speed of 22W can be achieved.
The website states that with the Adaptive Charge and Adaptive Battery settings turned off, it takes about 111 minutes for the charger to fully charge the Pixel 6 Pro's 5,000mAh battery. Charging the device up to 50% takes about 31 minutes, but it takes longer for the remaining 50%.
The charging speed of the phone seems to drop to 12W at 75%, then to 2.5W when the battery is almost full. Filling the last 15% takes a full hour. However, it is normal for the charging speed to slow down over time to avoid battery damage and overheating. But the drop to 2.5 watts is still unusual.
Pixel 6 features 30W slower charging speed than expected
The site compares the charging speed of a 30W fast charger with the 18W PDU charging speed found in older Google Pixel devices. I found that the 30W charger didn't improve speed much, as it takes 121 minutes to charge the Pixel 6 Pro with an 18W charger, which is 10 minutes less than a 30W fast charger.
Although the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro support fast charging, they don't seem to charge as fast. The company will limit the upload speed after reaching 80%.
The company did not say that the Pixel 6's charging rate is 30W. He said both phones support a 30W USB-C charger with USB PD 3.0 to charge up to 50% in 30 minutes via the data sheet.
If the Pixel 6 can't take full advantage of its benefits, the company's promotion of fast chargers makes no sense. Not to mention, Google encourages users to buy chargers to offer super-fast charging rates.
The company is also planning to release a Pixel Stand wireless fast charger for $79 in the near future.
The ultra-fast wireless charger provides up to 23W charging speed for compatible Pixel phones. This is closer to the 22W charging rate of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones.
It's unclear why Google has more realistic expectations for the next wireless charger than the 30W fast charger.
