Microsoft warns of a functional failure of Windows 11 |
Microsoft has started warning Windows 11 users that certain features cannot be loaded into the operating system because certificates have expired.
As of November 1, 2021, some users may not be able to open or use some Windows 11 built-in apps or some built-in apps.
This is due to an issue with a Microsoft digital certificate that expired on October 31, 2021.
The company has warned that some Windows 11 users won't be able to open apps like the screenshot tool, touch keyboard, or emoji panel.
You can use hotfixes to fix some problems. But this patch is currently under review. This means that you have to install it manually from Windows Update.
Hotfix KB4006746 fixes the touch keyboard, voice input, emoji panel, start and prompt sections in Windows 11.
You can find this update by checking for updates in the Windows Update section of Windows 11 settings.
However, the Microsoft hotfix did not fix the Snipping Tool app issue.
To fix the screenshot tool issue, use the Print Screen button on your keyboard and paste the screenshot into your document. You can also paste it into Paint to select the part you want and copy it.
If you encounter problems, you can change the system date to October 30 and then run the collector to restart it without any problems. After the app is loaded properly, you can change the system date again.
Expired certificates can also cause problems with the Accounts page in the Settings section in Windows 11, which has S mode and the IME user interface enabled.
The reason is that the certificate has expired
It is unknown how many Windows 11 users are affected by these issues. It's also unclear when the screenshot tool and S mode issues will be fixed.
Microsoft said, "We are dealing with an issue with the Capture Tool and S-Mode. We will provide updates as more information becomes available."
The latest bug in Windows 11 came two weeks after the company was forced to release a patch to fix the performance of AMD processors in the operating system. In some games, an error lowered the performance of the Ryzen processor by 15%.
