META has sold 10 million Oculus Quest 2 glasses |
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced on the company's Investor Day 2021 that Meta has sold 10 million Oculus Quest 2 headsets, which have generated sales for the standalone Meta virtual reality platform since its launch last October.
Amon said our technology is the ticket to the superuniverse. Emphasize that Qualcomm is committed to becoming a major player in both augmented and virtual reality platforms. Especially since the technology industry in general attaches great importance to the concept of Metaverse.
The news isn't coming directly from the Meta itself, but because the Oculus Quest 2 relies on Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 chipset to control standalone VR devices. Qualcomm seems to have exact numbers on the number of eyeglasses sold.
The previous Oculus Quest 2 sales benchmark resulted from Meta's voluntary recall of nearly 4 million pairs of glasses this summer. This resulted in a significant increase of 10 million trophies.
Given Meta's goal of developing a global platform for virtual reality, the 10 million Oculus Quest 2 brand is particularly significant.
In 2019, the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg), who was associated with the launch of the original Quest glasses, said that 10 million users are the main threshold before the ecosystem can grow significantly.
Andrew Bosworth, the company's vice president of augmented and virtual reality, told UploadVR this summer that he expects the company to meet its goal of 10 million users ahead of schedule.

Cristiano Amon also spoke about the company's 5G and IoT plans. He stated that the company dominates the next generation of IoT chips, including Metaverse.
If you want to hang out in the Metaverse, Amon said, Snapdragon is your ticket. For more information, see the company's mobile app and fashion guide.
Amon stated that most Metaverse devices such as the Oculus Quest are powered by the Snapdragon. Snapdragon XR2 is fully functional in virtual and augmented reality and supports multiple cameras and technologies. Hence, it provides a more immersive experience with sharper graphics, more dynamic environment and more realistic feel.
