| Google's Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 phones share a design language |
After years of testing, Google has had some unique successes with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. These phones advertise a unique eyebrow-shaped rear camera module. However, the Pixel 6 has yet to be launched in India and it is not expected to be released any time soon.
The Pixel 6a should be a mid-range device based on the flagship series and should now be launched in the market. A new leak from Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka OnLeaks) has given us an initial understanding of the Pixel 6a.
The Pixel 6a shares the same design language as its bigger siblings, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 6a has a 6.2-inch pure OLED display with a punch-hole camera and a fingerprint scanner in the middle.
The dual rear cameras and a single LED flash are housed in an eyebrow-like unit like the Pixel 6. In the image, we can see that the Pixel 6a has a dual-tone glass back.
On the right side of the frame, you can see the volume button and the power button. Given the size of the device, the volume buttons look in an odd place. The size of this phone is 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7 mm (10.4 mm including the rear camera).
At the bottom is a USB Type-C port with two networks, one for headphones and one for the microphone. There are antenna cutouts on all four sides and a SIM card slot on the left side of the device.
The Pixel 5a was launched in August and it has very moderate specs like Snapdragon 765G and 12MP + 16MP rear camera. Therefore, the Pixel 6a is set to take a step forward compared to the products of the previous generation.
I don't know how Google will price phones
This phone can be equipped with mid-range Tensor processors like Tensor lite or Snapdragon 778G. But this is still speculation.
Since the Pixel 6s has been upgraded in terms of camera hardware, we can expect similar treatment to the Pixel 6a. The main camera could be like the Pixel 6, which is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN1 sensor.
The Pixel 6a can also be equipped with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.
Due to the innovative software experience of Pixel devices, this phone is expected to come with Android 12, along with up to 3 years of software support and up to 5 years of security updates.
