Twitter allows Twitter Blue subscribers to try out new features |
Twitter has introduced a new feature called Labs for Twitter Blue, its premium subscription service. Labs is giving Twitter Blue followers early access to the features the platform is testing as part of this bundle, which is currently only available in Canada and Australia.
Labs subscribers can now download videos of up to 10 minutes from their computer. Only standard users can download videos with a maximum of 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
Additionally, iOS users can now swipe to pin their favorite chats to the top of the direct message box.
Features of the platform that Labs publishes to other users for free may be promoted, become a feature unique to Twitter Blue, or may be revoked based on subscriber feedback.
The lab also gives other in-house product teams the ability to add functionality, obtain early quantitative and qualitative data, and then disseminate it to a broader audience. As we develop new features, the content displayed in the lab also changes.
Twitter announced last month that it will continue to experiment with new product launches and has found that it is publicly sharing its progress and weeding out invalid ideas, as it recently did with Fleet.
Twitter promises more
"We think we wouldn't be making big bets if we didn't clean up now and then," Kavon Bikbor, the company's head of consumer products, said at the time.
Twitter Blue's current subscription fee is $3.49 CAD or $4.49 AUD. Subscriptions give platform users access to special features, including folders to organize bookmarks and clear tweets, which seem akin to the much-anticipated edit button the platform offers. . Twitter Blue also has a reading mode function.
The original Twitter Blue package launched in June and offers paid users:
- Cancel Tweets: The ability to cancel Tweets sent within 30 seconds of posting.
- Bookmarks folder: A new way to organize tweets saved in a specific topic folder.
- Reader mode: Convert the Tweet discussion thread into elegant text so that you can read the entire content of the Tweet together.
