Tile updates for Mate Pro Slim and Sticker trackers
Tile updates for Mate Pro Slim and Sticker trackers

Tile has updated its entire line of products with new hardware for the Tracker Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker. The four trackers have a sleeker, more modern design, and the range, size, and water resistance have also been improved.

At the regular price of $24.99, the Mate saw the biggest change in years, with a more rounded look and design and a new black option (in addition to the standard white).

Range increased from 200 feet to 250 feet. When trying to locate, the volume is now higher. The water resistance has been upgraded to IP67.

The new Mate's battery life has also been extended by three years instead of what was expected in the previous model. Despite the fact that the battery equipped with it is no longer user-replaceable.

The $34.99 Quick Slim also received a similar upgrade to the Mate, its new design matches the company's other new devices, an improved 250-foot (from 200-foot) range, higher sound, and IP67 water resistance. It can also keep its built-in battery, which can be used for about three years before it needs to be replaced.

The Pro also got a new design for $34.99, which should help stand out from the regular companion. The new model has a more rectangular appearance and is more suitable for key chains than the old square.

Like the regular Mate, the updated Pro is more water-resistant and has a new IP67 rating (compared to the Pro version's old IP55 rating, which prevents water splashes).

Tile wants to compete with Apple's AirTag and Samsung's SmartTag

Parts of the Pro are still the same as the previous model, it still has the longest range of any corporate tracker (400 feet) and has a removable battery (it can be used for about a year before the battery needs to be replaced).

A sticker is also available for $29.99, which is the first update since its release. The new model has a much better range (250 feet versus 150 feet for the old model), longer battery life (three years from non-replaceable batteries compared to two years ago) and more powerful sound. Like other new models, the new sticker is IP67 waterproof.

Tile also introduced a new feature that was lost in the Mate, Pro, and Slim trackers. The new model now has a QR code on the back and anyone in the world who can find the tracker can scan it. But he may not be a tile user.

After the lost tracker is found, the scanner will display your contact information. This is how you can coordinate your company's catering. (Due to QR code print size limitations, this feature cannot be used with stickers).

Tile also announced a new security feature called Scan and Secure, which will roll out in early 2022. Once Scan and Secure is available, anyone can download and use the Tile app to scan and discover nearby devices and notify you when unknown devices are nearby.

This feature is designed to make squares more difficult to use for malicious tracking (Apple and Samsung both offer similar security features like AirTag and SmartTag).

Ultra competes with AirTag for UWB-assisted AR tracking

Tile has officially announced Ultra, its first UWB chip tracker to be released in 2022. The company says it's the first tracker from a company to offer UWB support on Android and iOS.

The company does not provide information on pricing or release dates. But I looked earlier to see what Ultra looks like and how it works.

In appearance, the Ultra is similar to the updated Pro version, with a rectangular shape and an integrated key fob. But indoors, the Ultra (like Apple's AirTag and Samsung's SmartTag Plus) can not only use Bluetooth to use the Tile device's network to get the approximate location of objects, but also use UWB to provide more accurate positioning, if the device is in the back, on the shelf or under the sofa. . Ultra also has an augmented reality mode that can lead you to the lost tracker.
