Google Pixel Stand supports wireless charging up to 23W |
Google has unveiled a new wireless charger for the second generation Pixel Stand. The new charger provides charging speeds of up to 23W for compatible Pixel phones and charging speeds of up to 15W for other Qi-certified devices.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro bring many new features to the redesigned devices. Charging has also been extensively improved.
The company is offering up to 30W of charging support for Pixel 6 phones while introducing a new, faster Pixel kiosk.
To keep media cool when charging at this high speed, the new Pixel Stand has a built-in nearly silent fan, similar to the fan in recent OnePlus chargers.
Like the first Google Pixel Stand, the second generation version is designed to hold your phone in portrait orientation. This makes it easy to keep track of received SMS messages and notifications.
Wired charging via the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro received the first upgrade from the original Pixel. The new Pixel 6 series can be charged at up to 30W. Previously, its power was limited to 18 watts.
The company claims that this speed can charge the battery from 1% to about 50% in about 30 minutes.
As an alternative to wired charging, the company has also introduced a new Pixel Stand for the Pixel 6 that can boost the speed to 23W.
The new Pixel Stand uses an updated design with an active fan to prevent the phone from overheating as the speed increases.
With the Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel Stand can reach speeds of up to 23W. However, when charging the Pixel 6 wirelessly, that speed drops to 21W.
For mobile phones from other companies, the stand provides speeds of up to 15W. However, with older pixels, the speed is limited to 12W.
Google Enhanced Charging Function
Dual coil design allows the phone to be charged vertically or horizontally. Google has also made the coil better to make it easier to charge wireless headphones like the Pixel Buds.
The home control user interface in Android 12 has also been expanded to include Ambient Mode on the Pixel Stand.
In addition to charging, the new Pixel Stand also offers other upgrades. There is now a dedicated Google Meet kiosk as well as fan controls to make sure it doesn't get too loud at night.
It also helps in limiting the charging speed to keep the battery healthy over time.
The new Pixel Stand costs $79. But it was a while late. Meanwhile, a 30W charger costs $25.
