Apple wins smartphone customers when there is a shortage of chips |
According to the data provider, Apple is capturing the market share of its competitors in the smartphone market because this iPhone manufacturer is able to withstand the global chip crisis better than other mobile phone manufacturers.
Strong iPhone shipments helped the company gain at least 3% of the global smartphone market share in the third quarter.
At the same time, total shipments decreased by about 6% due to the lack of chips. This is based on data from market research firms Counterpoint, IDC and Canalys.
Due to the high level of confidentiality of smartphone sales data by technology companies, the number of shipments is the best indicator of customer preference.
"We expect the company to have another big quarter," said Counterpoint analyst Tarun Pathak. For the fourth quarter of the calendar year, we expect a similar transfer share of 20%.
Compared to many other companies, the company has successfully overcome the shortage of supply. This is due to its huge purchasing power and long-term supply contracts with chip suppliers.
Although the production of the iPhone 13 series faces hurdles due to the closure of Asian factories and increased demand in the second half of the year, this situation has occurred.
Apple can still win cellular customers
Ben Stanton, an analyst at Canalys, told Reuters, “The shortage of low-end phones is the most serious. As a result, Apple is less affected when compared to many of its competitors because it gives preference to high-end phones.
Counterpoint data shows that shipments of high-priced mobile phones drove sales to a record $100 billion in the third quarter.
The company remains one of the top picks in the world's second-largest economy, and annual sales in China rose 83% last quarter.
Apple increased its shipments in the third quarter. Market leader Samsung and rival Xiaomi have both suffered a pullback. Customers are drawn to the iPhone 12 series price cuts, faster processor and larger camera found in the latest iPhone 13.
