Amazon provides sellers with information on popular products |
At its third-party Accelerate 2021 conference, Amazon announced a tool that will give sellers access to information about what buyers are currently searching for and make it easier to choose which products to build next.
Identifying and introducing new products is the foundation of success in retail. But it can be expensive and time consuming.
Amazon's new tool helps take the guesswork out of product launches by providing information to sellers.
The company calls it Product Opportunity Browser. It gives sellers access to data and trends to identify opportunities to launch new products with high potential to meet unmet customer needs, he said.
The company has a proven track record of copying popular products and selling them under its Amazon Basics brand. This tool confirms the source and accuracy of the data.
Although the company quotes one seller who said he welcomes recommendations for its business, other sellers fear that those recommendations could lead to the company stealing existing products.
However, an Amazon spokesperson claimed that the tool provides aggregate data for sellers. It does not contain detailed information on the performance of other brands.
Instead, the company mentions that the tool offers product suggestions for customers to search for. But they did not find it.

The tool also provides more comprehensive metrics for categories and subcategories, such as: b. What people are looking for, price trends, and more.
In its press release, the company said that the tool enables sellers to learn what customers are looking for, what products they buy and which ones they don't, in addition to detailed data on search volume, growth, sales history and price trends.
For its part, the company has denied in the past abusing its role as a product developer and market provider.
The European Union accuses Amazon of systematically using market data that is not available to others. A recent report on Amazon India suggests that there is more extreme behavior out there.
The company is testing a beta version of the Product Opportunity Browser and will make it available to all sellers for free in 2022.
