Tesla is improving its reputation in China |
Tesla CEO Elon Musk recognized Chinese automakers as the world's most competitive automakers during a pre-recorded question-and-answer session at the World New Energy Vehicle Conference hosted by Hainan Province, China.
Musk is widely recognized by the state for being critical to his electric vehicle business. The suspension was made while the company was trying to improve its reputation in China.
"I have a lot of respect for the Chinese automakers who are promoting electric car technology," Musk said.
During the three-minute performance, Musk said that Chinese automakers are leaders in software and that software shapes the future of the auto industry.
Chinese electric car maker Tesla's competitors include companies such as Weilai and Xiaopeng.
The company laid the foundation for a large factory in Shanghai in 2019 and is a summary of Beijing's attempts to show that it is giving more foreign companies access to its relatively closed market.
But in the past year, negative news about the company in China has multiplied. A well-known case occurred in April when a woman claiming to be a customer of the company protested about her car's brake failure at the Shanghai Auto Show.
China's ambitions for Tesla are very important
Videos of the incident went viral on Chinese social media and state media said Tesla's stance in China was arrogant.
It is also subject to government data protection review and certain withdrawals in China.
The company is aware of the seriousness of the public relations crisis in China. Tesla also uses Chinese social media to reach out to influencers. Try to get them to remove or suspend their key positions. Including some well-known auto experts.
In August, the company sold 44,264 domestic cars, 31,379 of them for export. This is an increase from 32,968 Chinese-made cars sold in July. In June 33,155 units were sold.
