Slack will start updating the editing share functionality |
Slack introduced a new editing feature that allows co-workers to record video messages on Slack channels.
Clips supports microphone audio as well as video and screen recording. It's designed to help teams communicate across different time zones and reduce the number of meetings in an era of mixed work.
In addition to editing, the platform is also expanding Slack Connect to allow paid organizations to collaborate with businesses on free plans. He also announced that when GovSlack launches in 2022, it will run in a government approved cloud environment.
Clips can be shared on channels or by direct messages on the platform. It includes real-time comments and searchable text in the Slack interface.
Since this feature is similar to sharing photos or text messages on the platform, colleagues can reply using text, voice, video, or emojis.
The platform has been in development for this feature for over a year, and at first it felt more like an Instagram story that might disappear after a day than video and voicemail kept playing.
The prototype has a story type interface. However, this feature has evolved into a more user friendly way to use Slack.
The platform says, “We have been inspired by the way people use video in consumer apps. We built many different versions in-house, and now we have a way to connect with your way of working repository.
Clips appears to be the next step in the platform, designed to meet the needs of businesses adapting to working from home and reorganizing office work.
Huddles, a Discord-like voice calling feature, launched earlier this year and has become the fastest authentication feature on the platform.
Slack starts with video messages that can help you avoid meetings
In addition to the clips feature, the platform is also improving the way Slack Connect works. Slack Connects enables partner organizations to collaborate and connect in Slack, and the platform is now being deployed to companies that have not yet signed up for the paid platform program.
This fall, Slack Enterprise Grid customers can invite anyone to use the platform and contact them instantly.
Also launched in 2022, GovSlack is a platform version that runs in a government approved cloud environment.
Although the platform can be used by the US government, this new version meets federal government requirements such as FedRAMP High Certification and DoD IL4.
SalesForce completed the acquisition of Slack for $27.7 billion in July. The company showed more ambition in telecom services.
SalesForce appears to be viewing Slack as its digital hub, and the company has begun to integrate more services with Slack.
SalesForce has about 10 million developers in its ecosystem. While working on the platform, she focused on connecting her platform with Slack to realize the SalesForce developer ecosystem.
SalesForce positions the Slack site as a hub or business hub, similar to Microsoft's site for Microsoft Teams.
