Oppo has released the latest Android ColorOS 12, along with Oppo's own phones launched in China, OnePlus phones have also been updated and OnePlus ColorOS has been used in China since the beginning of this year.
While the two companies have merged several companies, OnePlus recently announced the integration of its OxygenOS database with ColorOS.
ColorOS 12 doesn't look much different than ColorOS 11. However, it uses more contrast colors and white space, and the density of information is lower on many screens.
The icon has been cleverly redesigned to make better use of depth and texture. The company said it has improved more than 300 animations across the user interface while using an artificial intelligence engine to reduce latency.
ColorOS 12 is based on Android 12 and includes advanced data protection tools, such as adding notifications to the status bar when the app activates the camera or microphone.
As for the new features. The company has added the ability to manage its phones through laptops running Windows 10 or Windows 11.
It also adds more widgets that can slide into the sidebar from the edge of the screen, as well as a 3D avatar feature called Omoji.
ColorOS 12 will be available for the first time in a new version of the flagship Oppo Find X3 Pro called Photographer's Edition.
The Oppo Find X3 series and OnePlus 9 will also have limited public testing in China in October. This was extended to previous models in November and December.
The company said that there are more than 110 mobile phone models and 150 million users worldwide that can upgrade to ColorOS 12.
OPPO reduces the number of employees
The close integration between Oppo and OnePlus earlier this year should help speed up software updates.
Bloomberg reported that the workforce was reduced by 20% after the merger of Oppo and OnePlus. Specifically, he eliminated the team responsible for the ColorOS plan and the hardware team.
The layoffs affected key departments, including the team that uses Android for ColorOS. and the Internet of Things division that develops a range of wearable devices such as smart watches and headphones.
It is not yet clear how this will affect the development of ColorOS at the company. OPPO has been on the cutting edge of Android 12 updates so far.
It was one of the first companies to release a beta update to the Find X3 Pro earlier this year.
