| OnePlus integrates the Hasselblad Xpan camera into the OnePlus 9 |
OnePlus is working hard to leverage its partnership with Hasselblad to roll out the Swedish company's XPan camcorder via software updates on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.
The OnePlus 9 series cameras initially lived up to the hype surrounding OnePlus and the camera brand after years of collaboration.
Earlier this year, Hasselblad's contribution to these phones was limited to helping OnePlus customize camera colors and providing information about the user interface.
This update adds XPan mode to the OnePlus 9 series of cameras as well as some helpful fixes. XPan mode can reproduce the focal length, color and processing effect of the original XPan mobile phone camera, allowing you to take photo format photos from the mobile phone.
The Hasselblad XPan is the industry's first dual-frame 35mm camera that allows photographers to capture large-format panoramic images in real time.
It includes a physical switch that allows photographers to seamlessly switch between single-frame capture and large-format images that span two frames. So, you don't have to risk losing all of your photos by switching the film between different sizes.
Like the camera, the XPan mode also takes photos with an aspect ratio of 65:24 (8:3). According to the press release, images captured in XPan mode are cropped by the 48MP main camera and 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera of the OnePlus 9 series instead of the standard 12MP camera. After trimming, files with a resolution of 20 megapixels and more should be created.

You can also take panoramic photos with a focal length of 30 or 45 mm that mimic the classic Hasselblad lens.
You can set up and preview photos by switching between the two views in the OnePlus Camera app. These high-resolution images are 7552 x 2798 pixels in a 30 mm area and 7872 x 2916 pixels in a 45 mm area.
Using the 2-megapixel monochrome camera of the OnePlus 9 series, XPan mode captures black and white photos by default. However, you can switch to color to take pictures.
Hasselblad has also created custom black, white and color profiles for XPan mode. The company has added animations to simulate the evolution of a film negative into an image when the shutter button is pressed.
The update contains other fixes, such as:

- The Android security patch will be updated until September 2021.
- Fix known issues.
- Improved stability and improved HDR image recovery algorithm.
- Reduce noise in many scenes.
- The sharpness issue in the Auto mode scene has been fixed.
- The stability of the automatic white balance in automatic mode has been improved.
- The white balance is automatically increased when switching between the main camera and the ultra-wide angle camera.
- Reduce the brightness of the image in Night Scene mode.
- Improved dynamic range in low light conditions.
- Improved success rate when shooting moving objects.
- Updated storage optimization solution and reduced camera app launch time by 50%.
- In some cases, the camera preview time has been shortened and the shutter speed has been improved.
