Microsoft wants to improve video editing on Windows |
Microsoft has acquired Clipchamp, a browser-based video editing tool, and the company has indicated that it may be suitable for the Windows operating system.
With Clipchamp, users can create and edit videos in the browser and use the full power of the GPU to deliver the end result.
Founded in 2013, headquartered in Australia, Clipchamp has 92 employees and announced in July that it has 17 million registered users and is adopted by more than 390,000 companies.
Clipchamp is used by companies like Google, Dell, and Deloitte. This technology aligns with the company's long-term efforts to expand its productivity software products for home and business users.
When Microsoft announced in August that the price of its Office 365 subscription would soon rise. She highlighted the new features of the package, including the Microsoft Teams communications app.
The software giant now wants to integrate Clipchamp into Microsoft 365 products and possibly even Windows itself.
"Clipchamp's technical approach is to combine the simplicity of web applications with the ability to process video with all the processing power of a GPU-accelerated computer that was previously limited to traditional video applications," the company said.
As a web-based tool that takes advantage of all the capabilities of your computer, Clipchamp is ideal for extending the Microsoft 365 cloud-based productivity experience to individuals, families, schools, and businesses. It is also very suitable for Windows.
This indicates that the giant Clipchamp software may integrate with Windows in the future. Clipchamp can be used as an app in the Microsoft Store.
Compared to Clipchamp, the massive video editing software tools for Windows are currently outdated.
Windows 11 can improve this situation as well as the possibility of Clipchamp integration in the future.

The current Windows 10 Photos app can edit videos. But these tools are too simple to access the editing options in Clipchamp.
Clipchamp uses a number of templates and a library of filters, transitions, storage media, and styles that allow users to create videos with multitrack audio support and easy editing.
The acquisition of Microsoft appears to be part of the company's reorganization to develop more user-friendly applications.
