| Microsoft has re-released PC System Diagnostics for Windows 11 |
Microsoft has officially restored its PC Health Check app for anyone to download, so you can easily check that your PC is ready to install Windows 11 before the October 5 release.
When the company announced Windows 11 and its strict new hardware requirements, it also released a PC health check tool that will check your hardware and let you know if your device can be upgraded to Windows 11.
However, the problem is that the app doesn't tell you why the computer failed the test, leading some people with relatively new hardware to think they can't run the operating system without upgrades.
A new version of the PC Health Check app is now available from the company's official link for those without a Windows Insider account that addresses this issue.
The app now offers more detailed information telling you that an upgrade to a new operating system is not possible.
If your device has compatibility issues that can be easily resolved, such as: for example, if the TPM is not enabled, Secure Boot is disabled, or you need to upgrade memory or storage space, the new version of Health Check offers suggestions.
But for bigger issues, like processors not on the company's compatibility list. Your only option is to upgrade to a supported processor, switch computers, continue using Windows 10, or install unsupported Windows 11, and you may or may not receive the update from now on.
Microsoft reserves the right to decline updates
The company said in August that it would not prevent Windows 11 from being installed on devices with older processors. It is simply because the processor is not in the compatibility list.
Instead, the company reserves the right to refuse Windows Updates. Contains security updates for future issues with this processor.
It appears that trying to upgrade unsupported devices to a new operating system may result in Microsoft requiring users to make concessions. The disclaimer makes it clear that the company does not recommend your behavior. Not covered by your device manufacturer's warranty. This means that you are not supported or you are not eligible for the update.
