Mercedes launches the first electric car AMG |
At the IAA Munich show, the Mercedes-AMG + EQS 53 4MATIC was presented, an AMG version of a luxury electric car that appears in the performance class of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
The AMG EQS 53 4MATIC + is the first fully electric car from AMG. Mercedes recently announced that it will be all-electric in 2030.
A few years ago, Mercedes Performance outfitted some SLS sports cars with four electric motors. But she did not release it as a production model.
On the other hand, the EQS 53 4MATIC+ should be able to handle two engines, and there are rumors that the Audi e-tron quattro S or the Tesla Model S Plaid will use three.
However, in most cases, the power of the two-motor system should be sufficient. In the basic version, the engine power is 484 kW and the maximum torque is 950 Nm.
The AMG-EQS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h.
With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, up to 560 kW of power and 1,020 Nm of torque can be achieved in "race start" mode with the "boost function".
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes only 3.4 seconds and the maximum speed is increased to 250 km / h.
According to AMG, this acceleration data can only be obtained if the battery is at least 80% charged.
In addition to the adaptive PSM units on the front and rear axles, AMG has also improved the inverter software to improve engine management.

The EQS 53 4MATIC+ contains the largest of the two EQS batteries with an available output of 107.8 kW. The + sign indicates that in the future the AMG EQS could be equipped with a lower battery capacity of 90 kW.
In terms of charging power, the AMG version corresponds to the production model, while fast charging can provide up to 200 kW.
It should be charged within 15 minutes for a distance of 300 km. An 11 kW AC charger with an optional 22 kW capacity.
Depending on the equipment and the AMG Dynamic Plus package, the base range is between 526 and 580 kilometers, about 100 kilometers less than the EQS 580 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The company stated that even if we use electrification, we will ensure that models based on the EVA2 range platform fulfill our AMG brand commitments.
"Our customers can expect a dynamic driving experience in this field," he added. We guarantee this with specific AMG solutions, particularly in the areas of drive, chassis, brakes and, above all, audio.
Inside, you'll find the Hyperscreen, which consists of three screens built into a piece of glass and stretching from edge to edge. It works with the virtual racing engineer AMG TRACK PACE via MBUX and is also available as an option.
