Apple promises to fix iPhone 13 unlocking through the watch |
Apple has posted a notice with tech support that the Apple Watch unlock feature may not be available for some iPhone 13 phones.
This feature allows users to unlock their device while wearing a mask or sunglasses without the need for a face ID or password, as long as they have an Apple Watch.
The company said that users who try to unlock their phones may receive a "No connection with Apple Watch" message or may not be able to configure the feature at all.
iPhone 13 users have reported in the past few days that the vulnerability appears to be affecting the company's remaining phone lines. Some people have reported that this feature works well on older models such as the iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone X and later models can use this feature on Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
For iPhone 13 users looking to take advantage of this feature, the company doesn't have a quick fix. Even if you at least notice it, you can stop and fix it.
Several users have tried reset, unpairing, and repair within hours without success. Some people have reported that resetting both devices completely can solve this problem. But it seems very awkward, the phone can only be unlocked by the watch.
It is not known when Apple will receive the repair service.
The company promised to fix the bug in a future software update. Although it really doesn't say what the problem is or when to expect the update.
Before the update is available, the company said, you can stop using the watch to unlock and use the password to unlock the iPhone 13.
To stop unlocking your Apple Watch, go to Settings, then Face ID & Password.
Earlier this year, with the release of iOS 14.5, the company introduced the ability to unlock iPhones using Face ID through pairing the Apple Watch.
This option is useful during a pandemic as masks are used in many public places. This makes it difficult for Face ID to identify you.
This feature applies to iPhone X and later and both iPhone and watch require wireless and Bluetooth enabled.
The watch must enable wrist recognition and use a password to protect it. It must be on your wrist and unlocked to use this feature.
