Apple may release a new version of the MagSafe charging disk |
Apple may release a new version of MagSafe Loading Disc. The new listing for FCC's magnetic chargers features an accessory called the A2548, which appears to be identical to the company's current A2140 charger.
Although the listing does not show how the new version has improved over its predecessor, it does contain information about testing the device.
The new charger has been tested on a variety of devices, including four new phones that are fully compatible with the iPhone 13 models that the company has been expecting.
There is not much advice about new content in the official FCC documents.
It has reportedly been tested on all four current iPhone 12 models (referred to as legacy phones). Except for four unannounced devices. This indicates that this new MagSafe charger should be compatible with two generations of products.
The company lists the A2176, A2172, A2341, and A2342 models that are compatible with the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, respectively.
There is also a schematic diagram for charging a pair of AirPods with a disk. This is what the current MagSafe charger can technically do. Although it doesn't attach magnetically to the AirPods case like the latest iPhones.

There have been rumors that this year's iPhone may have a stronger magnet on the back that could benefit from a modified MagSafe charging design.
There is also talk of larger wireless charging coils, and speculation that this could increase power and thus speed up charging speed, which in turn may require a new charger.
It can be a small modification, in terms of functionality, that matches the products on the market. There are reports that iPhone manufacturers have done this in the past.
Anyway, we don't have to wait long to find the answer. The company is widely expected to launch a new iPhone this month. Maybe next week at the earliest.
