Amazon rewarded workers who were vaccinated with free cars |
Amazon donated cars and a $100,000 cash prize to a group of vaccinated warehouse workers as part of an ongoing competition to encourage employees to get vaccinated.
Four warehouse workers and one clerk at a Whole Foods supermarket got hold of a car worth up to $40,000. It was after they provided evidence of vaccination against the coronavirus.
The company announced the deal through an Instagram post on the Amazon Vest Life account that broadcasts information and lifestyle content to front-line employees.
Last week, the company said in another Instagram post that three warehouse workers and Whole Foods employees received a $100,000 cash bonus for vaccines.
In August of this year, Amazon launched a lottery to reward employees who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus and encourage those who have not.
The contest is called Max Your Vax and gives employees a chance to win a car, a week of paid vacation, and a vacation package worth $12,000, as well as $100,000 and $500,000 in cash prizes.
According to Amazon, 18 prizes worth approximately $2 million will be awarded this month through October 21. In order to participate, employees must prove via the in-house website that they have received all vaccinations.
The company believes that vaccinations are essential for employees to keep themselves and their communities safe. The company added that Amazon has hosted more than 1,500 on-site vaccination events for employees and their families.
Amazon does not require vaccination for frontline employees. But this game was a wake-up call to encourage vaccinations.

The company also offers bonuses of up to $100 to employees and new hires who provide proof of vaccination.
Amazon wants to vaccinate hundreds of thousands of frontline workers. The covid delta variant is spreading rapidly around the world.
The company has reintroduced some previously implemented security measures related to the coronavirus. Including mandatory requirements for masks in US warehouses.
In addition, the company is working to resume a coronavirus testing program in its warehouses after the on-site testing facility is completed, according to the Seattle Times.
