Twitter allows you to sign in with Apple or Google |
Twitter has introduced third-party login support, which allows users to create accounts and connect to social networks using their Apple or Google accounts.
The platform also allows you to link an existing account to a Google or Apple account as long as the email is the same.
After testing the functionality in the beta phase last month, the platform's apps have now started official support for contacting Apple or Google. This means that you can now use your Apple ID or Google ID to create a Twitter account for more privacy.
This feature first appeared in a beta version of Twitter last month. But it now appears to be more widely available.
Creating a Twitter account with an Apple account is much easier than the normal registration process as there are no emails or passwords to manage.
When you sign in with a Google account, the platform receives the account picture used for the Google account.
The current connection experience is clearly not common. You can sign in with Google on iOS, Android, and the web. But doing so on Apple is currently only available for iOS.
According to tech support, Apple account will soon offer network support. The current version of the platform app for Mac computers doesn't seem to support any of the connection methods.
Apparently, you can't sign in with an account created by Apple via Android. The "Continue to Apple" button is missing. And it seems that using the traditional Twitter login with the Apple ID password will not work.
Twitter enables connection with Apple or Google
Also, after creating an account with Apple Sign-in, it does not appear that you are able to change your password because the page will ask you to provide your current password.
The platform's support page indicates that you can disconnect your account through Apple or Google. But only on the Internet Apple users can not connect yet.
Google users can reset their password after logging out of their account.
It is no coincidence that Connect with Google and Connect with Apple are enabled at the same time.
If the app allows a third party connection, the Apple Play Store policies require that the app use Apple as an option.
