Motorola launches the new Motorola Edge phone |
Motorola has announced a new version of its $700 Edge smartphone that features better cameras, more modern processors and updated designs.
Analysts say the company is doing well in the US. The brand's success is due to its strong budget range and mid-range 5G phones that make up the majority of its smartphone product portfolio.
Like the Edge from last year, the new model doesn't offer the best hardware the Android OS supports.
This phone comes with Snapdragon 778 5G, which is an octa-core 6nm processor which comes with Adreno 642L GPU, 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage.
The processor has a built-in 5G modem and is paired with a 6GHz wireless network connection module (such as Wi-Fi 6E). Supports the basic IP52 waterproof standard.
The new Edge is equipped with a 108MP camera, which is one of the standout features of the Edge Plus, as well as a larger battery with a capacity of 5,000mAh and supports the 5G millimeter wave standard.
The company has added a 6.8-inch LCD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone does not support wireless charging. However, it can be charged with a Motorola TurboPower 30W charger.
The device includes a triple rear-view camera with a 108MP main lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens (it acts as a macro lens thanks to the macro view function) and a 2MP depth lens.
The phone can record normal videos at up to 4K resolution and slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second. It has a volume boost feature that allows the microphone to focus on wherever the phone is recording.

There is a 32MP front camera that uses pixel binning technology to produce 8MP photos. The company said a dedicated portrait mode enables HDR shooting.
The company has added a new camera feature called AI Low Light Selfie that can identify areas of photos that need improvement in terms of detail, shadows and colors.
Compared to the Night Vision mode, which combines 8 images into one shot, this function analyzes one image.
It can also be captured in advance in the viewfinder so you can preview what the photo will look like before taking it.
Other camera functions include automatic smile capture, intelligent image composition, lens optimization, and dual capture cameras.
The dual camera has been upgraded so that photos can be taken with two cameras at the same time. This is after the previous support for recording from the main front and rear cameras at the same time.
Motorola Edge runs on Android 11 and promises OS updates every two years and security updates every two years.
It has a proprietary interface and additional features such as My UX to customize and configure gestures, Moto Power Touch that launches the app bar when a button is double-clicked, and Power Source, and allows users to turn their phone into a portable desktop computer.
Ready For gets a major upgrade as it can now work wirelessly, so you can display your mobile screen or desktop user interface on another screen.
A new PC-ready desktop application has also been launched. This allows you to access your computer's apps and files on the same screen.
The company also announced that its mobile phones are commercial grade. Indicates that it was preinstalled with Lenovo ThinkShield notebooks. It is ioXt certified and meets the recommended Android Enterprise requirements.
