Microsoft integrates Spotify into Windows 11 |
Microsoft plans to integrate Spotify into a new feature for Windows 11.
Panos Panay, Microsoft's president for Windows and devices, teased the focus sessions feature in Windows 11 via Twitter this week. It seems to be a new way to focus on tasks and work.
The tuning session includes Spotify integration that allows you to create a tuning timer to perform tasks while listening to Spotify music playlists.
Microsoft has not yet begun testing focus sessions in the public release of the next operating system. But according to Banays' video, it appears to be built into the operating system's clock app.
Based on the user interface shown in the video, Focus Meeting can help you achieve your goals and get more work done.
It appears to follow the pomodoro technique, a time management method that breaks work down into small parts and short breaks.
There are many Pomodoro apps and websites that will give you time to focus on your to-do list. And Spotify integration might be the way for Microsoft to stand out.
Microsoft clearly hopes that Spotify integration will make a difference. The focus element in Windows 11 can help rival the focus mode in macOS Monterey. Not to mention the similar features in Android and iOS.
Windows 11 and Spotify integration
Plus, it's the first time we've seen significant integration between Spotify and Windows since Microsoft retired Groove Music in 2017.
At the time, Microsoft worked with Spotify to bring Groove Music subscribers and their playlists to competing music streaming services.
Microsoft and Spotify have previously worked together to develop Windows 10 apps and separate apps for Xbox game consoles.
The new Clock app mode prompts you to choose a task in Microsoft To Do. If you need audio clips, set a timer and choose Spotify playlist. When the timer runs out, your music will stop and alert you that the interval time is up.
Focus sessions are not yet available in the Windows Insider public preview. However, it may be available in the latest version of the operating system, which may hit the market later this year.
