LinkedIn adds options for online video conferencing |
LinkedIn has introduced a new video option on its messaging platform, which is another way to communicate with users without having to download a separate video app.
Previously, over the past year, the platform supported several third-party video providers to facilitate video conferencing between them.
With the increasing adoption of virtual communication across the world over the past year, video calls have become a necessary requirement for business conversations.
The platform has more than 744 million members on LinkedIn in hopes of making business conversations more private. Especially in the age of hybrid and remote work, only a few of us are able to meet in person.
The platform said, "When we originally looked for one-to-one chat functionality, we wanted to increase members' efficiency by adding video conferencing as part of the messaging experience while maintaining security."
"By default, members can log in while maintaining the context of the ongoing conversation," she added. Members can now schedule free video conferences across their network without downloading apps or signing up for services.
With the "Create video conference" option in the chat window, you can use the new video messaging option in the platform's chat system. It also offers the option to switch to other video providers if you want.
LinkedIn adds video conferencing
The video chat interface of the platform allows you to connect easily and instantly to improve chats.
The interface also contains each user's account information, which is displayed at the bottom of the video screen. According to the LinkedIn account profile, this provides additional context for whoever is speaking.
Additionally, the platform also likes to help enhance video communications whenever possible. This is a new prompt that plays in chat when related terms appear in the text.
Upon opening, a new Create Video Chat button will be added to your message, making it easy for you to start a video call directly from your feed.
Functionally, video chat is nothing new within the platform as users have been able to promote it through third-party video tools for quite some time.
An increasing number of users can use video conferencing in conversations to strengthen communication and build stronger relationships with potential business partners.
In addition, the platform has developed many new features for video chat, including:
- Calendar integration so that the scheduled meeting sends an email with ICS to both parties.
- Allow chatting during video chat.
- Share your default screen and wallpaper.
The platform also hopes to increase group meetings as the current system only supports one-on-one video chats.
