HP announces new Chrome OS devices

HP has announced two new computers running Chrome OS in its consumer product portfolio.

The first computer, the Chromebase AiO, was an all-in-one desktop with a screen that could be rotated from landscape to portrait.

The second device, Chromebook x2 11, is a lightweight, detachable PC that can be easily converted from laptop mode to tablet mode.

The company also announced the launch of a 24-inch USB-C monitor. These three new products target students, families and consumers in general.

Chromebase AiO will be available this month and Chromebook x2 11 will be available in October. Base install prices for these two devices start at $599.99. The M24fd USB-C Monitor will retail for $249.99 in October.

HP Chromebase All-in-One

Priced at just over $600, the Chromebase AiO is an all-in-one PC with a swivel screen. This is the first product available for all-in-one Chrome OS desktop computers.

The touch screen has a resolution of 21.5 inches, 1920 x 1080 pixels and is equipped with a Pentium Gold processor or a 10th generation Core i3 chip.

The basic configuration of the Pentium Gold has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage.

You can get up to 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD.

The device's conical base is made of aluminum and houses two 5W speakers and four connectors, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

A 5-megapixel camera can be used for video calls. You can use the Chromebase's built-in shutter button to selectively turn off the camera or microphone.

In addition to the ability to rotate from landscape to portrait format, the screen can also be tilted back by 20 degrees.

Portrait mode makes it easy to read long web pages or manipulate documents.

HP CHROMEBOOK X2 11

Chrome OS 11" tablet with magnetic keyboard and stand that can be used in laptop mode.

It has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7c processor (1st generation chip, not the recently released 2nd generation) and optional 4G LTE (not 5G) connectivity. HP claims that it can take up to 11 hours.

The touch screen has an aspect ratio of 3: 2, and the resolution is 2160 x 1440 pixels. The tablet itself is made of aluminum, has two USB-C ports for charging and data transfer, as well as a microSD card reader.

Fingerprint reader integrated with power button for biometric registration. Two loudspeakers provide sound.

A 5-megapixel camera can be used for video calls. On the back there is an 8MP camera for taking photos or scanning documents.

Chromebook x2 11 offers 64 or 128 GB storage and 8 GB memory.

Models with LTE devices are equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The box contains a wireless stylus that can be magnetically attached to the side of the computer for charging. It can be used for recording and drawing with Cursive, Google's new progressive web app.

HP M24FD USB-C Monitor

A Google-certified "Chromebook" USB-C display can be easily set up using a Chrome OS laptop.

It can provide up to 65 watts of power to a laptop connected via a USB-C cable. Or you can connect it to other devices via HDMI (1.4) or VGA. There are also two USB-A ports on the screen for additional peripherals.

The screen has a diagonal of 23.8 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The company said it has 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles and supports AMD's FreeSync technology for a smoother gaming experience with a refresh rate of up to 75Hz.

The brightness can reach 300 cd / m² and the screen itself is anti-glare. HP claims that the coverage of the sRGB color space is up to 99%.
