Google Sheets suggests formulas and functions automatically |
Google Sheets gets an update that makes it easier for it to provide inline, sequential, context-sensitive suggestions for formulas and functions.
The company announced that its Google Sheets can now intelligently suggest formulas and functions for your spreadsheets based on the data you want to analyze.
The search giant noted that these formula recommendations help analyze data faster. Remember that new formula suggestions make it easier to write new formulas accurately and make data analysis faster and easier.
After the formula is pasted into the worksheet, suggestions are automatically displayed when the user clicks on the cell. Other suggestions will also appear in the dropdown menu.
For example, if you type "=" into the cell below the list of numbers, a popup will appear where you can automatically add numbers, average, etc.
The company said it used anonymized data from certain spreadsheets to create these recommendations to train the machine learning model.
The table takes into account the frequency of use of the formula and also takes into account the context in the document.
The company stated that the model can analyze how data is collected to understand what recommendations are being made to users.
Google Sheets suggests formulas and functions automatically
Spreadsheets have always tried to make life easier for users with autocomplete. Both Google Sheets and Excel have some sort of string continuation feature. You try to figure out what you're doing in a certain area and then move on.
For example, if you have a list of 2, 4, and 6, you can tell the worksheet to continue the list for one set of cells, and the next cells will automatically populate with 8, 10, and 12.
All Google Workspace, G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, and private users can use the new plan suggestions tool. It may take up to 15 days for them to appear in front of everyone.
The user can activate this feature by going to the tool and then activating the formula suggestion. You can also activate formula suggestion via the three-dot menu in the suggestion dialog.
You can accept any suggestion by pressing Tab, or you can turn the feature off if you don't like the popup.
The company also said that the launch will allow users to see if pre-compiled formats require additional verification.
