Google Pixel smartphones do not come with a charger |
Google is the latest phone maker to ditch the built-in charger. The company expects the Pixel 5A to be the last phone with a charger. That means the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro won't include a charger when they arrive this fall.
In recent years, Google has outfitted every Pixel smartphone with an 18W USB-C power adapter.
The original Pixel 2016 smartphone specifically includes a charger that partially matches the color of the device. But the company quickly switched to a white theme that supports USB Power Delivery 2.0 and a fairly standard plastic case.
Like it or not, the search giant is following Apple and Samsung to get rid of the included charger.
As a result, the company has an opportunity to reduce retail packaging, especially since the loader is the thickest product. To be as environmentally friendly as possible, the company has reduced the size of the fund.
The company said that most people have a USB-C charger. So his phone no longer has anything on it.
Apple and Samsung similarly argued when they announced that they would not offer integrated chargers. It could be true. But cost savings outside of the shipper could have played an important role in these decisions.
There is also an environmental reason not to use chargers. In theory, the fewer redundant chargers delivered to customers, the less e-waste.

Although Google hasn't directly addressed this issue, the company has always believed that removing the charger is a more green step.
This is difficult to prove and could mean that greenhouse gas emissions from the production and transportation of bypass chargers will expand to more companies by purchasing third-party products.
Critics have pointed out that this feature is questionable. So if you need to buy a charger, ordering a charger from another company can lead to more waste.
One thing seems for sure: even though the big three mobile phone manufacturers have promised to phase out chargers, it's easier for smaller companies to follow suit and do the same.
Your choice of the supplied charger will be reduced. If you go for a free charger, you may have to look for brands like Xiaomi (Mi 11 offers free chargers).
While buyers may feel they are getting less for the same price, this may be a reality we all have to come to terms with.
