Google offers kids a safer online experience |
As part of a new series of measures to protect children under the age of 18 from using its services, Google has announced that it will not allow advertising to children based on age, gender or interests.
Other changes include a new option that allows people under the age of 18 to request that their photos be removed from company photo results. Although YouTube Kids Downloads has gradually switched from default settings to more private settings.
These changes are similar to what Facebook introduced last month when Facebook said that Instagram accounts for children under 16 are set to private by default, meaning users will have to make their accounts public.
Advertising based on children's interests or activities is also prohibited. Despite the fact, this still allows you to select your location by age, gender, and location.
The search giant has announced that it is making changes in line with new regulations being introduced in some countries/regions and hopes to provide a consistent product experience and control worldwide.
The company warned that removing images from Image Search would not completely remove them from the network. But it should give users more control over how images are distributed.
Along with changes to ad targeting, the company also said it's expanding safeguards to prevent age-sensitive ad groups from showing up to teens.
The search giant has stated that it is making other changes to its children's services. SafeSearch is now enabled by default for users under the age of 18. Previously, it was enabled by default for users under 13 years old.
The function that prevents the display of clear search results in the company's web browser comes via the smart screen.
