Neuralink, a brain-computer interface company owned by Elon Musk, has raised $205 million from investors including Google.
Google provides support through GV (formerly Google Ventures). It is the venture capital arm of Alphabet Inc.
The third round of funding has been announced, led by Dubai-based Vy Capital. Two years later, Neuralink raised $51 million.
The company's total investment now stands at $363 million. Founded in 2016, Neuralink seeks to develop high-bandwidth brain implants that can communicate with mobile phones and computers.
With its first device, the company targets paraplegics who cannot interact with many of the current devices and is conducting studies in humans.
So far, this technology has been tested on pigs and monkeys who can use their brains to play the video game Pong.
Neuralink has, in the past four years, developed the first high-channel, high-channel PC-computer interface designed for patient care.
Its first product, the N1 Link, is a 1024-channel device that becomes invisible after implantation and transmits data wirelessly.
