Apple Mac sales continue to rise in the second quarter |
Apple will announce its latest quarterly results on July 27, but new quarterly data from analysts at IDC gives a snapshot of expected results.
According to the latest data, Apple's Mac shipments increased by about 10% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year. Although there is a shortage of spare parts and logistics all over the world.
For the entire personal computer industry, including desktop computers, laptops and workstations, IDC analysts said shipments reached 83.6 million units this quarter, up 13.2% year over year.
Strong PC demand along with bottlenecks hurt laptop supply, so desktops grew faster than laptops this quarter.
Although the economy continues to grow, analysts are warning of the first signs of slowing growth. During the coronavirus pandemic, the increase in remote work and distance learning has led to strong growth in the neighborhood.
The annual growth rate is still high. However, since the growth rate of 13% in the second quarter of 2021 is much lower than the growth rate of 55.9% in the first quarter of 2021 and the growth rate of 25.8% in the fourth quarter of 2020, it has begun to decline. . . .
Apple PC sales continue to grow
"The market is seeing mixed signals on demand," IDC said. With businesses reopening, the demand potential in the commercial sector looks promising. However, there are also initial signs of declining consumer demand. Almost a year after buying large amounts of computers, people are changing their spending priorities.
For Apple in particular, IDC estimates Mac shipments at 6.16 million units. In the previous year it was 5.63 million units at the same time.
This increases Apple's PC market share to 7.4%. Compared to the market share of 7.6% in the same period of the previous year, there was a slight decrease.
This makes the iPhone manufacturer the fourth largest seller, just ahead of Acer and behind Dell, HP and Lenovo.
As always, it is important to remember that IDC data is based on supply chain data and surveys.
Apple will provide information on Mac shipments in its earnings report on July 27. But the company has not reported any sales of its products.
Apple has warned that a shortage of chips could hurt its business, especially its Mac and iPad devices.
