SpaceX builds the first oceanic space port |
SpaceX builds its first floating space platform. He plans to host the press conference early next year.
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, shared detailed information on construction progress for Deimos.
Deimos is one of the SpaceX modified oil rigs purchased earlier this year.
The company hopes to convert these two oil rigs into floating launch and landing platforms for the next "Starship" reusable missiles.
The purpose of SpaceX's purchase of the platform earlier this year was to create Deimos and Phobos, two floating spaceports named after the Mars satellites.
They will serve as overseas launch bases for spacecraft launch activities. In fact, the final plan is for spaceships to transport people and goods to and from the Red Planet.
The company shipped Phobos from the port of Galveston to Pascagoula, Mississippi, earlier this year to modify the spacecraft. Demos is now under construction in Port Brownsville, Texas.
SpaceX and space ports:
Musk has already shared his vision of the future, which is to place space ports like Demos within the boundaries of major centers around the world.
This allows SpaceX to operate a network around the world being distributed point by point at supersonic speed and using interstellar missiles to transport personnel from Beijing to New York in about 30 minutes.
SpaceX intends to conduct orbital flight tests on the Starship missile, which is still in development. With the accompanying reinforcement, it's very difficult.
Musk previously said the company could launch missiles from its offshore platforms by the end of 2021.
The company recently launched and successfully tested the Höhenlander at the Starbase development base in Texas, making good progress on its Starship program.
It should be noted that SpaceX is preparing its first orbital flight test. This includes the first time that a "spacecraft" has flown over a "super heavy" aircraft.
After falling off the coast of Hawaii, the spaceship must be found again after the test.
The company is currently running lengthy ground tests on the Raptor engine for the next big step.
On the other hand, SpaceX has lost many prototypes in previous tests. However, in early May, he managed to land on the SN15 prototype during flight testing.
