Microsoft wants to provide Xbox to billions of gamers |
Microsoft is working with TV manufacturers to make the Xbox app available on all devices as quickly as possible.
When Microsoft launched the Xbox in 2001, it was the only place you could play games on the console.
You can always buy the latest hardware from the company, but you can also play games on your PC.
If you pay Microsoft $15 a month for an Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription, you can also play games on your tablet or mobile phone.
Going forward, the company thinks you'll want to play games on more devices like TVs or mini podcasts that can be connected to the TV.
The software giant plans to bring its Xbox Game Pass service to TVs via xCloud streaming technology to unlock more ways to access Xbox games.
This will be available as a TV app and as a custom streaming media from Microsoft.
The company said, “We are working with global TV manufacturers to bring the Xbox Game Pass experience directly to smart TVs, so you only need one joystick to play.”
Microsoft has not announced exactly when this Xbox app will be available on TV or which manufacturers will make this app available on their devices.
Microsoft plan for Xbox:
Late last year, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer hinted at an Xbox TV app. He said he hopes to see this in the next 12 months.
Spencer also spoke about the Xbox broadcasting job last year. The company announced an imminent launch on the market.
We're also developing a standalone media streaming device that can be connected to a TV or monitor, the company said. Thus, if you have a strong internet connection, you can stream your Xbox experience.
Just like the TV app plan. Microsoft has not revealed any details about the release date or price of its Xbox streaming media hardware.
Microsoft announced these details at a special press conference ahead of its E3 event later this week.
The software giant will focus on gaming at E3 on Sunday, June 13th. As such, we are unlikely to have any further details until the equipment is ready to ship.
The Xbox Game Pass TV Extension is part of a larger effort by Microsoft to expand its subscription service beyond mobile phones and Xbox consoles.
Microsoft also announced an upgrade to its xCloud server code. It pairs with xCloud access and use on the Xbox platform later this year.
