| Kia announces 2021 Niro EV with some added technologies |
Kia has launched the 2021 Niro EV, which adds new features like Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto while keeping the price the same.
Kia has announced that a 2021 version of the electric Niro crossover will soon be available to consumers.
The automaker has very transparently admitted that the 2021 Kia Niro is essentially an electric car in 2020. However, with some improvements in terms of technology and comfort.
The Kia Niro debuted as a hybrid in 2017 and has since released a PHEV version and an all-electric model that debuted in 2018.
The Niro EV and Hyundai Kona EV share the drive system setup.
The 2020 Kia Niro focuses on a 64-kilowatt battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 239 miles (385 kilometers) and 201 horsepower, plus 53 cubic feet of cargo space.
Kia announced the 2021 Niro EV:
According to the press release, the Nero in 2021 will be the same as its predecessor in 2020, but with improvements in comfort and technology.
The car shares the same 64-kilowatt battery, and the EPA estimates a range of 239 miles (385 km), 201 horsepower and 53 cubic feet of cargo space.
That doesn't mean it's a 2020 model. Kia has announced some improvements that consumers can expect:
- Standard occupant warning (based on door logic).
- Apple Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto (EX).
- With the remote start function, the cab can be preheated or cooled.
- DriveWise Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Including Vehicle Departure Warning, Highway Driving Assistant, and Intelligent Cruise Control based on Navigation
Additionally, the suggested retail price for the 2021 Niro EX is $39,090. The 2020 Niro EX Premium retail price is $44,590. The price of an electric car in 2021 is $44,650.
