Fortnite developers start anti-cheat service |
Fortnite developer Epic Games today announced the launch of a free voice chat and anti-cheat service that developers can implement in their games.
It is provided as part of the Epic suite of online services, can be used with any game engine, and supports Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
The new multi-platform voice chat service. Supports individual and group chats during in-game games.
When using the service, the voice is transmitted through the main server of the company that developed the game Fortnite. This technology addresses all features of scope and quality of service.
According to Epic Games, the technology has been built into Fortnite and tested in battle. This ensures that millions of players can be served at the same time.
In addition to voice chatting, Epic Online Services has also added support for Easy Anti-Cheat, a service designed to eliminate cheats from online games.
Previously, third-party developers could use Easy Anti-Cheat to license their games. But it's now free as part of the Epic Games online service. It should allow many developers to take advantage of it.
Fortnite developers release new services:
Epic Games believes that anti-cheat software like this will become increasingly important with the increase in cross-games between PC and other platforms, and cheats are generally easier to get on the PC.
Like other anti-cheat software, Easy Anti-Cheat can sometimes cause problems for non-cheaters.
Additionally, innocent software can be categorized as malware, so there is nowhere near a perfect solution.
However, with cheating persisting in many of the world's greatest games, it's hard to deny developers another tool.
Fortnite developers have added these two services to Epic's suite of online services. It has nothing to do with its own game engine or storefront.
In addition, the company said it is offering free services to encourage wider adoption of all Epic Games products and create a larger account base for the company and its partners across all platforms.
