Elon Musk presents Cyberpunk 2077 via Tesla |
Elon Musk joked that Tesla's new Model S Plaid could play Cyberpunk 2077 earlier this year. It has now shown onboard gaming performance similar to the PS5 platform.
The updated Model S Plaid features a new Tesla infotainment system powered by AMD's Ryzen processor and AMD RDNA 2 discrete GPU.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said, “No car with the latest computer technology and the latest infotainment system could play games at a level comparable to the PS5.
"This is an actual PS5 performance," he added. The car can run Cyberpunk 2077 in the latest games at a frame rate as high as 60 frames per second.
AMD announced last week that it is developing a new infotainment system with 10 teraflops of computing power in its new Model S and Model X.
That same number is roughly equivalent to 10.28 teraflops of PS5. Although Tesla's overall computing includes integrated and discrete GPUs. So 10 teraflops isn't just perfect for gaming.
Tesla with Cyberpunk 2077:
During a Tesla event, Musk briefly introduced the Cyberpunk 2077 with a high frame rate on the $130,000 Model S Plaid and carefully examined the system's updated user interface.
It will be shown separately after the event. Some Tesla fans were able to snap pictures of what appeared to be Tesla game boards.
It is not clear whether the steering wheel, which mimics the shape of a car's steering wheel, is a virtual entity.
In the photo by user reddit, the arm is visible next to the Xbox console. These videos appear to show an Xbox console being used to play Cyberpunk 2077.
If you want to know why you should play PS5-level games in your car, Musk says: When you think about the future, where cars will often be in autonomous driving mode or fully automatic driving mode, entertainment will become more and more important.
