Apple could make a big low-cost smartphone in 2022 |
According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will sell a 6.7-inch iPhone for less than $900 in 2022.
In that case, iPhone 14 buyers have a cheaper option to get the screen size that Apple currently sells only with the iPhone 12 Pro Max, starting at $1,099.
Kuo predicts that Apple's regular iPhone lineup in 2022 will include phones with 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens (the same size as the current iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max).
There is no iPhone Mini with a 5.4 inch screen. Analysts, including Guo, have said the iPhone Mini will be phased out in 2022 due to declining sales.
While some people miss small phones, it makes sense from an Apple perspective to expand the line of consumer phones.
Based on documents in beta builds from Apple and Epic Games, Apple released a report on consumer buying behavior for smartphones late last year.
Apple wants a good cell phone at a low price:
The report shows that many customers are buying mobile phones with screens larger than six inches. More and more people are turning to Samsung instead of Apple to meet the demand for big phones.
Both companies are facing a downturn in the market and rising costs. When Apple decides to make a great low-cost phone. They did this after seeing research that many consumers want bigger, cheaper phones.
Although Apple is working towards this goal to some extent (the screen on the iPhone 12, iPhone 11 and iPhone XR is 6.1 inches). They have made large cell phones unique in the high-end category.
Next year may be a good time to appeal to users looking for products larger than 6.1 inches. But they don't want to spend more than $1,000 to get it.
In addition, Guo also said that the iPhone 2022 will have a fingerprint reader built into the bottom of the screen. There is a new iPhone SE that supports 5G networks.
