The new Windows 10 update aims to improve remote work |
The next major update for Microsoft Windows 10 (version 21H1) is initial device access, focusing on improving remote work solutions through changes (for example, the ability to use multiple Windows Hello cameras on one device).
This is especially useful for Surface devices as the owner may need to use other webcams to connect to the screen while working from home.
This is a brand new feature in Windows 10 May Update (version 21H1):
- Multiple Windows Hello cameras support. If there are Windows Hello indoor and outdoor cameras, the default is the external camera.
- Windows Defender Application Guard performance improvements, including improved document opening times.
- WMI's GPSVC Group Policy Service updated performance improvements to support remote work scenarios.
Microsoft usually offers important Windows 10 updates in the spring and smaller updates in the fall.
The company rolled back this practice before 2021, so the update could arrive in October.
The next big update includes new system icons, improvements to File Explorer, and even the end of icons from the Windows 95 era.
As part of the overall visual transformation of Windows, Microsoft has made more comprehensive visual changes in Windows 10.
The October Update also fixes an issue with reorganizing apps across multiple screens, adding HDR functionality to Xbox Auto, and even improving audio support on Bluetooth devices.
The update from May 2021 is very young. Microsoft used a special activation package to temporarily hide functionality on Windows 10 PCs. This update enables them.
Regarding the glitches, Microsoft has stopped developing roaming personalization settings that allow syncing of lock screens, wallpapers, and other personalization items between devices. As a result, this functionality will remain stable from now on, and Microsoft has also advised to turn off settings after removal. In future releases.
As always, Windows Update will offer the May 10, 2021 Update through Windows Update, and Microsoft is bundling this update to ensure there are no compatibility issues.
